Woodgrove students recently voted in their Schoology class groups for a haunted themed Homecoming. They are in for a treat this year, as the Student Council Association (SCA) and the Class Councils are working hard to make a spooky, haunted Homecoming experience.

Homecoming is a huge event for Woodgrove students. It requires a lot of effort to make it a fun and enjoyable event. At Woodgrove, Homecoming requires coordination with 4 different class councils, the PTSO and school administration. The SCA is in charge of acquiring the DJ, photobooths, games, and decorations. Students from the SCA and Class Councils go to the school from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. to help set up all the decorations and activities on the day of the dance.

On October 18, ending Homecoming spirit week, Woodgrove’s pep rally will be held where staff and the students on Homecoming Court can participate in games. The football team will be playing  John Champe that evening.

SCA Vice President Rory Schriver shared an idea that the SCA has for the pep rally. “There’s just gonna be a lot of fall festivities. We’re talking about maybe doing a pie eating contest,” Schriver said.

Due to the haunted theme, Halloween inspired decorations, such as spooky lighting and fake cobwebs will be placed throughout the school, which will make the 2024 Homecoming dance memorable. To contribute to the spooky theme, the class councils will be decorating the the stairwells based on their subcategories.

SCA President Samantha Mare spoke about the possibility of creating “haunted graveyards”  in the courtyards. “SCA is currently working out the possibility of incorporating the courtyards as a space to hang out and cool down after dancing. It’ll be particularly very fun for the haunted theme because we are planning to make it like a graveyard with spooky noises,” Mare explained.
