Ah, food. The thing that most humans consume in their everyday lives. The taste, the smell, the filling feeling. At some point in a week, most people go out and get food, whether it be getting a mouth watering pizza from Manhattan Pizza, a rich cookie from Sweet Rose Bake Shop, or a refreshing smoothie from Tropical Smoothie.

However, there comes a time in many lives when mankind gets bored of the same old foods and have a feeling of wanting to try something new from someplace else. Unfortunately, that is hard to do in Purcellville. The town contains the same cuisine everywhere one looks. Burgers and fries, pizza, Thai, and Mexican. Many people enjoy going out to eat, but having to go 30 minutes to get a certain cuisine that the town does not offer is a struggle and would change if the town were to offer more unique foods.

When people drive around Purcellville to get food, places like McDonalds, Chick-Fil-A, Chipotle, and BFC are the first places that pop up in their mind. It is quick, easy to get, and usually good. However, they all have one thing in common: They are all fast food restaurants. Notoriously, these places are unhealthy or they can get boring after a while of constantly eating at them. Bringing new cuisine to Purcellville would offer more healthy alternatives and food that nobody could get bored of.

If Purcellville brings in new cuisine to the area, it would offer people more choices of food than the basic things that are constant in the area. It would give a chance to bring newer types of food and more culture into the town.  It would also give a chance for family owned restaurants to have more customers. A lot of the restaurants in Purcellville are food chains that are either all over the globe or all over Virginia, taking up more space instead of giving it to newer restaurants that deserve the room.

Many people also believe that there should be some new cuisine in Purcellville. Mrs. Abby O’Connor, a culinary teacher here at Woodgrove, believes that there should be more Indian food in Purcellville. She said, “I’d like to see an Indian restaurant come to town. Indian cuisine is so delicious and flavorful.” Mr. Andrew Olejer, the other half of the culinary teachers at Woodgrove, thinks that Purcellville should bring a Brazilian steakhouse to the area. He said, “My favorite type of restaurant is a Brazilian steakhouse. There aren’t any in Loudoun. The closest ones are in Fairfax. It could be a destination for people from around Loudoun.”

Freshman Vivien Wohlfeil, a frequenter of many Purcellville eateries, shared that we should bring more Chinese food to the community. She says, “I haven’t had a chance to go to any of [ the Chinese places in Loudoun County], so bringing Chinese food into the town would offer me the opportunity to try more of it and to open up my palate.”

The town of Purcellville has so much of the same food that it gets repetitive and boring after a while for many people. If the town brings more diverse cuisine into the area, it could open up opportunities for family owned restaurants and brand new food groups that are unique. Purcellville, it is time to bring more food into town. As Bugsy Siegel once said, “Everybody needs a fresh start every once and awhile.”
