A Woodgrove Wonder: Hallway Trick-or-Treating

On October 28th, students in costumes walked through the halls, pockets ready to be stuffed with candy and goodies from staff members.

Each year at Woodgrove High School, students in costumes fill the halls and classrooms during the day. Last year, there was a large variety of costumes. Some went as far as to make their own from scratch. Some other student’s went as bananas, Jesus, and some as Vikings. Though, this year, there were not as many costumes as the year before.

Mrs. Valasek, one of Woodgrove’s World History teachers, says “It started by thinking of ways to get more school spirit.” The Student Council purchases all of the materials needed for the event. Taking over an hour and a half to stuff bags for staff to hand out, there was nothing left over. Ms. Ranalli says, “Student’s enjoyed it more this year than last year. Last year, we handed out gift cards, but it was too hard to keep track of them.”

Since Mrs. Valasek and Ms. Ranalli are not doing Student Council next year, the Trick-or-Treating event would be up to next year’s Student Council sponsors to keep the tradition going. Woodgrove looks forward to seeing more costumes and more trick-or-treating in the coming years.
