Woodgrove High School is home to a wide range of talented sports, one of these being the impressive swim team. Swimming is a sport that is not only fun, but very beneficial for your muscular fitness and cardiovascular health.  This year’s swim meet times, as well as opponents will be changed this year due to the district population change from 5a to 4a. Coach Tami Carlow advises swimmers this year to, “get in the water if they have not already,” and to “be mentally prepared for the season.” She also stated that, “Swimming is not only a great sport for your physical health, but also your mentality.” Senior Griffin Koester built on to this by explaining, “Swimming is 80% mental, so try to get excited.”  He also mentioned the “swim team family,” explaining how everyone is close and are there to cheer each other on.  Both Koester and Coach Carlow advise swimmers to work out at least twice a week, and to continue cardiovascular training.

With the increased number of swimmers at Woodgrove, the practice lanes have steadily become more crowded.  Coach Carlow discussed how difficult it is to fit fifty swimmers in the four lanes of the Round Hill Aquatics Center.  She wishes there was another place for our swimmers to practice, however the number of locations to practice is limited so they will most likely practice at the same center this season.  The Swim team has their first meet on December 2, 2023 at Ida Lee Recreation Center, so be sure to show up to support and cheer on our swimmers.
