Student Council brought energy and enthusiasm to this year’s winter pep rally, helping inspire school spirit and excitement for the colder months ahead. Packed with entertaining games, team introductions, and an involved crowd, the event brought together the school to rally behind winter athletes and the devoted student body.
Playing well-known games such as “The Price is Right” and “Musical Chairs,” the Student Council Association worked hard to involve all of Woodgrove. Student Council President Samantha Mare shared her experience planning for the fun day. “We are doing classic games, because they are quick and easy and are what people really wanna do,” Mare shared. She also shared how creating an energetic crowd and involved student body during this time of year can be difficult. “When the 3rd quarter starts, people are already not wanting to go to school, so SCA is incentivising people to want to go to school and be excited about being here,” Mare emphasized.
As the winter pep rally was being kicked off, winter athletes ran out into the gym holding banners showing off their respective sport as the crowd cheered them on. Theater and band also joined in, being recognized for their hard work and dedication to their performances. Unified Sports wowed the crowd with their 7v7 basketball game. Senior Brayden Santoli’s favorite part about the pep rally was watching Unified Sports. “I loved how hype everyone got when someone made a basket, it was great,” Santoli remarked. He also participated in a pep rally game called “the king of the hill,” which was a hit with the crowd and participants. Students put on bubble ball costumes to try and knock each other off of the mat. “I participated in the game because I knew a lot of people who were playing, and I enjoyed playing against my friends,” Santoli added.
The musical chairs game ended in a showdown between the freshman and sophomores. Both participants ended the game in a truce, but later on had a rock paper scissor competition to determine the champion. In another game, participants guessed the price of school merchandise for a chance to win the swag. “The Price is Right game was a transition, but also something to engage the students in the crowd,” junior Bella Towe commented.

With fun and exciting games, the winter pep rally brought joyful moments to the whole school. “Something SCA is doing to make more fun events and school spirit is by having more student input by posting polls and asking for their feedback on what they want to see next time,” Towe shared. SCA worked hard to bring the winter pep rally to life, and they have more exciting plans for pep rallies in the future.
