Hello Fall
Fall officially began on September 22, 2022; the autumnal equinox hit the northern hemisphere. This was the start of pumpkin carving, leaves turning different colors, and Starbucks pumpkin spice latte season. With many people changing their t-shirts to sweaters, it was time to get into the fall spirit. “I get into the fall spirit by walking my dogs when the weather is nice and putting out my candles that have a fall scent,” said Woodgrove High School’s Hope Thurman, 11th grade.
Multiple events happened from September to November: weather changes, the sun going down sooner, Halloween, and Thanksgiving. “There are a bunch of reasons why fall is my favorite. I love Halloween; the weather is at its peak, and Thanksgiving is the only time I get to spend with my extended family,” stated Thurman.
Purcellville posted fun things to do with friends or family in the area. A spooky tour of the best Halloween-decorated houses was up from the 27th through the 31st, as well as an outdoor movie night showing Hotel Transylvania on the 30th. “My favorite movie to watch is horror movies like IT to get me in the Halloween spirit, as well as movies I watched when I was younger like Hocus Pocus and Ghostbusters. Movies that are based in fall like the Goonies are also my favorite,” said Thurman.
